Abstract

Introduction: Lifestyle is one of the factors affecting on health, and if it be unhealthy, it can cause diseases and chronic problems in postmenopausal women. This study was performed with the aim to determine the relationship between lifestyle and quality of sleep in postmenopausal women. Methods: This cross-sectional study was performed in 2012 on 400 postmenopausal women referring to Women's clinics of training centers in Mashhad. The study tools included health-promoting lifestyle questionnaire and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality. Data was analyzed using SPSS software (version 16), and Pearson correlation coefficient, t-test, ANOVA, and linear regression tests. PResults: The highest score of the behavioral aspects of lifestyle was related to spiritual growth and responsibility for health and the lowest score was related to physical activity. There was a significant inverse correlation between total scores of sleep quality and nutrition (P=0.011, r=-0.127), stress management (P=0.001, r=-0.171), and total score of lifestyle (P=0.001, r=-0.159). Conclusion: Healthy lifestyle improves quality of sleep in postmenopausal women
